Em solenidade comemorativa dos seus 44 anos de vida, o Clube Escola Pirituba apresentou para os freqüentadores uma pista de caminhada com 700 metros, além de torneios esportivos e shows musicais.

Segundo Laércio Oliveira, coordenador do Clube Escola, cerca de 1.000 pessoas passaram pelo equipamento nesse dia festivo. As atividades foram abertas com o Hino Nacional tocado pela Banda da Polícia Militar e teve a presença do subprefeito Sérgio Carlos Filho e do vereador Elizeu Gabriel, entre lideranças comunitárias e funcionários. Oliveira disse que o clube escola tem cerca de 1600 alunos matriculados em diversas atividades, e que recentemente mais 300 vagas foram oferecidas.

Edimilson Macedo, do Alopiri - Movimento Ação Local Pirituba, afirmou que a pista de caminhada era um "querer antigo da comunidade. Para ele o clube escola se encontrava abandonado pelas gestões anteriores, e aos poucos tem sido revitalizado. Porém, nessa atividade comemorativa, "faltou maior engajamento da comunidade local". Ele considera o clube um "importante equipamento de inclusão social".
A Alopiri, segundo Macedo, "nasceu a partir da ação exitosa da ONG Viva o Centro, localizada na região central da cidade, e da necessidade de criar novos formadores de opinião em Pirituba, qualificando-os para o exercício da cidadania". A Alopiri quer articular o diálogo entre a comunidade e os poderes públicos nas três instâncias: municipal, estadual e federal. "É um movimento embrionário, participativo e sem hierarquia, que pretende ter várias células no bairro, reduzir a blindagem existente na gestão publica e divulgar a Cultura de Paz", afirmou Macedo.
